Danny McCann

Founder

Founder of the Montreal Esprit Triathlon, Danny McCann began his triathlon career in 1980 as the sport was emerging globally. With the absence of other triathlon events in the province of Quebec, he created the Esprit Triathlon (initially named the Montreal World Triathlon) in 1984 and was the organizer for 39 years. Under his leadership, the event has experienced remarkable growth, with a modest 150 competitors in the first edition to nearly 4000 athletes today. Recognizing the quality of the event orchestrated by Danny, the International Triathlon Union asked him to organize the 1999 World Triathlon Championships in Montreal, thus putting the city on the map as a global destination for triathlon.

Recognized for his dedication to sport and innovative spirit, McCann was inducted into the Triathlon Canada Hall of Fame in 2009 for his outstanding contribution to the sport. He was also honored as an ambassador for the sport of triathlon at the Triathlon Quebec 30th Anniversary Gala in 2018.

Jérôme McEniry

Race Director

With over 20 years of experience in the world of triathlon, Jérôme has dedicated over a decade to organizing and directing sports competitions. As a triathlon technical official and technical delegate, he has accumulated valuable experience, holding various roles in renowned international competitions such as World Triathlon Championships and various events in the World Triathlon Series and World Cup. His background also includes managing numerous competitions at the provincial and national levels, enhancing his expertise in planning and coordinating large-scale events.

As the Race Director of the Montreal Esprit Triathlon for over 8 years, Jérôme has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to this event. The arrival of the Challenge Family in the history of the Montreal Esprit Triathlon represents a unique opportunity to continue the exceptional legacy of the event towards a new level of excellence. His mission is clear: to ensure that the Challenge Esprit de Montréal delivers an exceptional racing experience for athletes of all levels by placing the participant at the heart of this experience.

“I am extremely excited as the 40th edition of Esprit Triathlon Montreal approaches, collaborating with Challenge Family’s new partners. As the Athlete Services Coordinator for many years at Esprit Montreal, rest assured that my team will continue to put their heart and professionalism into it, and familiar faces will always be there to answer your questions and provide the necessary support for the success

Association of Sports for the Blind of Metropolitan Montreal

The Duathlon ASAMM 2023 team would like to personally thank Sophie Yergeau and Marie-Ève Sullivan for your significant contribution to the project. Without your support and that of your organizations, it would not have been possible. Additionally, we want to acknowledge the support of the volunteers from the Triathlon Esprit Montreal organization who accompanied our members and volunteers on the D-day with discretion and tact, greatly contributing to the smooth running of the event. A big thank you also to Virginie Joubert from Triathlon Québec for her patience and support in the registration aspect, and to François Hamelin for his support in promotional elements and volunteer recruitment, as well as to all the other individuals on your teams who contributed to the project. In conclusion, I want to express my pride in initiating these wonderful partnerships between ASAMM, Triathlon Esprit Montreal, and Triathlon Québec in 2022. Thank you for believing in the project from the start. I sincerely hope that the experience continues for the well-being of our members.
